A takeoff is just counting: how many downlights, switches, GPOs, data points and cameras live on this plan, and what does that cost to supply and install. What takeoff software actually does

• Knows real products. A 4-gang switch with two dimmers should hit the count as exactly that, with the dimmer modules and plates it implies — not as a generic dot you re-interpret later.
• Handles the induced items. LED strip implies drivers; cameras imply an NVR and a switch port. Good software counts the things the symbols drag along with them.
