Electrician quote template: what a winning quote includes

8 August 2026 · 6 min read · robot® Plan

Most electrical quotes lose the job before the price is read: a wall of codes in an email attachment, no photos, no options, terms copied from a builder mate in 2014. Here's the structure that wins — use it in Word if you must, or let software fill it in.

The winning structure

  • A header that looks like a business. Logo, licence number, ABN, direct phone. Trust is decided in the first three seconds.
  • A one-paragraph summary in plain English. "Supply and install LED downlights, smart switching and a new switchboard at 14 Smith St" — before any line items. The customer should understand the job without reading a single code.
  • Itemised sections, not one number. Lighting / Power / Switchboard / Extras, each subtotalled. One mystery number invites one response: "can you sharpen it?" Items invite conversation about scope instead of price.
  • Optional extras they can tick. The alfresco strip lighting, the two extra cameras. Options grow jobs — every quote should carry at least two.
  • A deposit and payment schedule. Milestones in writing (deposit / rough-in / fit-off) protect both sides and mark you as established.
  • Validity and terms. 30 days validity, variations in writing, who patches and paints. Boring, and the reason boring sparkies get paid on time.

Template vs software

A Word template gets you consistency; it still leaves you retyping items and doing maths at 9pm, and it can't show the customer anything. Quoting software holds your pricing library so every item lands priced, adds the options with live totals the customer can tick themselves, and sends as a link that looks sharp on a phone — with an accept button instead of a "please sign and scan" ritual. In robot Quote you can even say the job out loud and review the drafted quote instead of building it.

The fastest way to a professional quote format is to send one: start the 30-day free trial and your next quote goes out itemised, optioned and signable.
