How to plan LED strips and their drivers
Draw strip runs, set brightness, colour temperature or RGBW, and let robot size the drivers for you.
LED strip is where quotes go wrong — forgotten drivers, wrong wattage. Draw the runs on the plan and robot does the maths.
Draw a strip
- 1In Add Products → LED strips, pick the type: Internal, Square, Curved, Weatherproof or RGBW LED strip.
- 2Tap where the run starts.
- 3Tap where the run ends.
- 4Drag the middle of the strip to curve it around a bulkhead or island.
Set up the strip
Tap the strip, then the pencil to open its settings.
- Strip name — e.g. Kitchen toe-kick.
- Brightness — Low, Medium or Bright (5, 10 or 14.4 watts per metre at 24V).
- Smart LED — turn on for a smart strip.
- Colour temperature — Warm 2700K, Cool 4000K or Daylight 6500K. RGBW strips show Colour instead.
- Estimated length (metres).
- Mounting height (mm AFFL) — Ceiling, Toe-kick, Under bench or 2400mm.
Drivers, sized for you
Each strip needs a driver. robot works out the watts (brightness × length) and picks the driver size — a 50W, 100W, 150W or 200W driver, depending on the load. Drivers go straight onto the product list and the quote. You don’t place them by hand.
- 1Leave Driver group on Independent — own driver to give the strip its own driver.
- 2Or pick Share driver with … to run several strips off one driver.
- 3Check the Driver for this group box. It shows the total watts and the driver robot picked.
Over 170W in one group, robot warns you to split it across more drivers or thin the strip out.
Link, copy and finish
Link the strip to its switch the same way as a light — see How to set up switches and 2-way switching.
In the strip settings, Duplicate copies the strip with the same settings, Add another starts a new run, and Delete strip removes it. Tap Done to save.
