How to upload a floor plan and add floors

Load the builder’s PDF, pick the right page, crop it, and add a tab for every level of the house.

Builders send plans as multi-page PDFs, phone photos and screenshots. robot takes all of them and trims them down to just the plan.

Upload the plan

  1. 1
On an empty floor, tap Upload your floor plan.
  2. 2
Pick an image (PNG or JPG) or a PDF. A photo of a printed plan is fine.
  3. 3
robot trims the white margins off for you.
Good to know

Other file types won’t load. If you see Unsupported file, save the plan as a PDF or image first.

Pick the page from a PDF

  1. 1
robot shows Reading your PDF… while it opens the file.
  2. 2
Under Pick the page with the plan, tap the page you want. Each page is labelled Page 1, Page 2 and so on.
  3. 3
You’ll crop to just the plan next.
Tip

One PDF often has every level in it. Upload the same PDF on each floor and pick a different page each time.

Crop and rotate

  1. 1
Drag the crop box so it covers just the plan — leave out the title block and notes.
  2. 2
Tap ⟳ Rotate if the plan is on its side.
  3. 3
Tap Crop & place →. Or tap Use as-is to keep the whole page.

Replace or remove the plan image

Once a plan is loaded, you’ll see Replace and Remove plan at the top right of the canvas. Replace swaps in a new drawing — handy when the builder sends a revision. Remove plan asks you to confirm first.

Good to know

Your placed products stay where they are when you replace the image. Check they still line up with the new drawing.

Add, rename and delete floors

New plans start with one tab called Ground floor. Each tab shows a dot when it has a plan image, and a count of the items on it.

  1. 1
Tap + Add floor to add a level. It’s called Floor 2, Floor 3 and so on.
  2. 2
Double-click a floor tab to rename it — e.g. First floor, Garage, Granny flat.
  3. 3
Upload that level’s plan on the new tab.
  4. 4
To remove the level you’re on, tap Delete floor and confirm. Every item on that floor goes with it.
Tip

The product list, the PDF and the quote all count items across every floor. The plan PDF prints one page per floor.

No drawing? Sketch the walls

  1. 1
On an empty floor, tap ✏️ Draw a floor plan — or open Tools → Draw walls.
  2. 2
Drag to draw a wall. Walls snap straight.
  3. 3
Tap Done in the banner when you’re finished.
Good to know

Draw walls is turned off on a floor that already has a plan image.

Measure a known wall

robot works out the plan’s scale from measurements you label. Open Tools → Measure, tap two points (the ends of a wall you know), then type the size — e.g. 3600mm — and tap Done.

You need at least one measurement before robot can work out square metres for heated floors.
